Pick up West Alfred Street heading east out of downtown Tavares. Alfred turns into Old 441 and stays that way for three and a half miles. We are on the right, in the Mount Dora Plaza Shopping Center, before you reach the busier stretch of 441.

There is no highway section, no interchange and nothing to miss. If you pass the plaza you have gone too far by about thirty seconds.

That nine-minute figure is a free-flow estimate from the road’s own speed limits — accurate at ten in the morning, optimistic at five in the afternoon when 441 backs up. Call it ten to twelve minutes at the end of the working day and you will not be disappointed.
