G Rollz in Mount Dora, FL

G-Rollz is the rolling-paper brand that treats the packet as the product.

Based in Lisbon, they licence artwork properly rather than borrowing it — Banksy, Cheech & Chong, Monkey Climber and others — and print short runs across papers, cones, trays and storage. The papers themselves are unbleached hemp and perfectly good; the reason people pick them off the shelf is the design.

That makes them the obvious gift. A tray and a matching pack of cones is one of the few things in this shop that works as a present for somebody whose taste you only half know, and it is a common Friday-evening purchase here.

The catch is the same as with any licensed run: it does not come back. When a design sells out it is usually gone rather than restocked, so if you see one you like, that is the moment. We cannot order last season’s artwork back in, and we would rather say that plainly than take a special order we cannot fill.

Have a look along the rolling papers and cones and the trays. What is in the rack changes more than anything else in the shop.
