Uwell in Mount Dora, FL

If one device defines Uwell it is the Caliburn, and it has been quietly popular for years for an unglamorous reason: it is hard to get wrong.

It is a small refillable pod system with no screen, no wattage settings and very little to go wrong. You fill the pod, you draw on it, it works. For somebody moving off disposables and not wanting a hobby, it is usually the sensible first device — and it is the one we hand over most often when somebody says “something simple.”

The thing to know is the generations. Caliburn, Caliburn G, G2, A2 and Koko are related but their pods are not universally interchangeable. This is the single most common mix-up we see at the counter, and it is why a pod bought online sometimes does not fit the device at home.

Further up, the Valyrian tanks cover the bigger end of the range entirely differently.

Put the device on the counter. Thirty seconds of looking beats a guess, and we would rather you left with the pod that fits.
