The concentrate wall is smaller than the glass case and considerably more technical. Almost everything that goes wrong here is a sizing problem, and almost all of it is avoidable by bringing the rig in with you.

What’s on the shelf

Rigs — small-chamber pieces, usually 6 to 10 inches. Less water than a water pipe on purpose: you want the vapour cool, not diluted.

Quartz bangers — the bucket that takes the heat. Flat-top, round-bottom and thermal, in 14mm and 18mm, male and female. Honeybee Herb is most of what we keep.

Carb caps — bubble, directional and spinner. A cap is not optional kit; it is what lets a banger work at a sane temperature.

Terp pearls, dab tools, e-nails, torches and butane, plus the replacements for the parts that break: dropdowns, adapters, replacement glass.

Sizing, which is the whole game

Three things have to agree: joint size (14mm or 18mm), gender (male banger into a female joint, or the reverse) and angle (90° or 45°).

Get one wrong and the part does not fit. There is no partial credit.

So bring the rig. Ten seconds on the counter beats a return trip, and we keep adapters for the in-between cases.

Temperature, briefly and without the mysticism

A banger heated red and used immediately is far hotter than it needs to be, which is hard on the quartz and unpleasant to use. Heat it, then wait. A timer or an infrared thermometer takes the guesswork out, and we keep both.

Wipe the banger with a cotton swab while it’s still warm. Leave it to cool with residue in it and you’re into soaking, which is how quartz gets cloudy.
